On February 22nd in 1924 - U.S. President Calvin Coolidge delivered the first presidential radio broadcast from the White House.

 On February 22nd in 1932 - The U.S. War Department announced the creation of the "Order of the Purple Heart." The announcment was made on George Washington's 200th birthday. On August 7, 1782, George Washington had created the "Purple Heart" with the "Badge of Military Merit."

 On February 22nd in 1942 - U.S. President Roosevelt sent orders for General Douglas MacArthur to get out of the Philippines.

 On February 22nd in 1956 - The US Montgomery Boycott sparked arrests that included Martin Luther King. He was found guilty on March 22 and ordered to pay a $500 fine.

 On February 22nd in 1963 - Moscow warned the U.S. that an attack on Cuba would mean war.

 On February 22nd in 1967 - Operation Junction City became the largest U.S. operation in Vietnam with 25,000 US and S. Vietnamese troops.
