On August 29th in 2004 Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Manhattan to protest President Bush's foreign and domestic policies as Republican delegates gathered to nominate the President for a second term.
On August 29th in 2007 US service officials said the Army would examine as many as 18,000 contracts which were awarded over the past four years to support US forces in Iraq to determine how many included abuse by waste and fraud.
On August 29th in 2008 US banking regulators shut down Integrity Bancshares Inc. of Alpharetta, Ga., and sold all deposits to Regions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Ala. This marked the 10th US bank to fail in 2008.
