On April 29th in 1856 During the Tule River War Yokut Indians repelled a second attack by the 'Petticoat Rangers,' a band of civilian Indian fighters at Four Creeks, California. The Yokuts lived along the shores of Tulare Lake in the Central Valley. The disappeared by 1900 due to water diversion and farming.
On April 29th in 1861 The Maryland House of Delegates voted against seceding from the Union.
On April 29th in 1862 Forts Philip and Jackson surrendered to Union forces under Admiral Farragut outside New Orleans.
