On May 24th in 1993 The US Senate confirmed Roberta Achtenberg, an acknowledged lesbian, to be a top federal housing official.

On May 24th in 1994 Four men convicted of bombing New York's World Trade Center were each sentenced to 240 years in prison.

On May 24th in 1994 The United States and Japan agreed to revive efforts to pry open Japanese markets to U.S. goods. 

On May 24th in 1995 "Hollywood Madam" Heidi Fleiss was sentenced to three years in prison and fined $1,500 for running a call-girl ring that catered to the rich and famous.
