On May 20th in 2009 May 20, The US House passed legislation imposing new rules on credit card companies.  President Obama signed the legislation on May 22.

On May 20th in 2010 May 20, Tesla Motors announced that it will use a $50 million investment from Toyota Corp. to help it buy the recently closed Nummi auto plant in Fremont, Ca.

On May 20th in 2010 May 20, BP conceded that more oil than it estimated is gushing into the Gulf of Mexico as heavy crude washed into Louisiana's wetlands for the first time, feeding worries and uncertainty about the massive monthlong spill.

On May 20th in 2012 John Allen, the commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), said that US and NATO forces will shift to a supportive role with Afghan forces taking the lead in fighting, but that they will not disengage from combat until 2014, when ISAF troops are scheduled to pull out of the country.
