On April 26th in 2012 The Standard & Poor's ratings agency has downgraded Spain’s sovereign credit rating by two notches, from A/A-1 to BBB+/A2. It also placed the country on a negative economic outlook, forecasting further economic contraction in 2012-2013. Spain is one of the Eurozone's hardest-hit economies, with a total debt-to-GDP ratio of 68 per cent and an unemployment rate of over 20 per cent.

On April 26th in 2012 A US military judge ruled Thursday that suspected WikiLeaks source Bradley Manning can be tried for "aiding the enemy" after allegedly leaking documents to the site. The 24-year-old could be jailed for life if convicted of "aiding the enemy," one of 22 criminal charges that judge Colonel Denise Lind let stand at pre-trial hearings this week at Fort Meade, in Maryland.

On April 26th in 2012 New North Korean missiles shown at a recent military parade were “fakes,” analysts assume. The weapons displayed on April 15 appear to be a “mishmash of liquid-fuel and solid-fuel components that could never fly together,” AP said, citing experts of Germany's Schmucker Technologie. “There is no doubt that these missiles were mock-ups,” Markus Schiller and Robert Schmucker argued. The KN-08s missiles on large mobile launch vehicles were given special prominence at the end of the parade.

On April 26th in 2012 Yemen wants more US counterterrorism aid, including drone strikes and more US military trainers and advisers, the country’s officials have said. However, Yemen rejected a CIA and US military request to expand the use of drone strikes against individuals who appear to be militants, AP reports. Currently, US forces are limited to striking clearly identified fighters with known links to Al Qaeda.
