On March 29th in 1882 The Knights of Columbus was granted a charter by the state of Connecticut.

On March 29th in 1893 US Congressman James Blount arrived in Hawaii to investigate the change in government. He later reported to Congress that annexation to the US was being forced and that the people of Hawaii supported their queen.

On March 29th in 1912 The U.S. sent rifles to the Mexican ambassador in Mexico City and readied U.S. ships to transport troops to fight the rebels.

On March 29th in 1943 World War II meat, butter and cheese rationing began.

On March 29th in 1951 Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage. They were executed in June 1953. Morton Sobell was convicted of conspiracy in the case and served 18 ½ years in prison.
